Linden Blue Joins ICON Aircraft Board of Directors
July 17, 2012 – ICON Aircraft announced that Linden Blue has joined its board of directors. Blue is Vice-Chairman of General Atomics, the world’s leading producer of advanced composite unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and the producer of the highly successful “Predator” series of UAVs. GA has become the most globally recognized name in the field of composite UAV systems and has transformed modern reconnaissance and combat operations. Blue is also CEO of Spectrum Aeronautical, a company developing a high-performance, economical composite business jet.
Blue has had an extensive career in aerospace. In the past, he served as the Executive Vice President and General Manager of Learjet, as well as the President and CEO of Beech Aircraft Corporation, where he oversaw the conceptualization of the first FAA-certified composite business aircraft, the Starship. Blue received his Private Pilot License in 1955, has logged over 10,000 hours as a pilot in command, and has jet, helicopter, and seaplane ratings.
The addition of Linden Blue to ICON’s board was made possible by the departure of previous board member, Vern Raburn. Raburn decided to step down from his duties on ICON’s board to avoid any conflict of interest while he pursued the acquisition of another light aircraft manufacturer. He remains a close friend of ICON.
