Task Instructions
1. Clean prior to abrasion by wiping with a clean cloth moistened by isopropyl alcohol. Change cloths frequently when they become discolored or otherwise contaminated. Use a pre-determined pattern to ensure that all areas are addressed. Repeat as necessary to assure a contaminant free surface.
2. Abrade surface using fiber abrasive pads with an equivalent 320 grit roughness. This may be accomplished using power tools intended for this purpose or by hand. All areas being touched up should be abraded.
CAUTION:
Use special care not to damage the carbon fiber/tow when using a power tool to abrade the surface.
Note:
Tooling fitted with vacuum systems must be used to reduce the secondary area contamination.
3. Clean all surfaces after abrading and prior to pin-hole treatment. Blow the areas with compressed air and then wipe off using a clean cloth and isopropyl alcohol. Change cloths frequently when they become discolored or otherwise contaminated. Use a pre-determined pattern to ensure that all areas are addressed. Repeat as necessary to assure a contaminant free surface.
Verification Method
Area is clean of debris and cloths no longer become discolored or otherwise contaminated when they are used to wipe off the surface.
