Task Instructions
1. Pull back heat barrier insulation on noted fuel lines. Inspect condition of lines. If any evidence of age or wear, such as cracking rot, or corrosion, is found, replace the affected line.
3. Remove previously installed fuel lines.
4. Cut 3X lengths of insulation:
a. 1x 26.59 ± .25 inches
b. 1x 27.46 ± .25 inches
c. 1x 4.25 ± .25 inches
5. Install insulation onto fuel supply and return lines. Overlap the insulation at least 1 inch and secure with aluminum tape.
6. Route fuel lines. Attach to fittings on engine fuel rails and at firewall bulkhead. Figure 374
Note:
Fuel lines cross over one another at firewall bulkhead.
Figure 374. Fuel Line Routing
7. Torque fuel lines B-nuts (4x locations) to 99-117 in-lbs (offset calculation) using 6-3 Torque wrench and crowsfoot at 180°.
8. Using isopropyl alcohol, clean surfaces where torque stripe will be applied. Apply torque stripe across b-nut and adjacent structure.
9. Cut & install additional lengths of insulation as required to cover exposed fuel line fittings and secure it together using aluminum tape. Ensure insulation completely covers fuel line and fittings at both ends (at fuel rails and firewall bulkhead).Double insulation on right hand fuel rail nearest to exhaust manifold. Overlap by 4.25 ± 2.5. Figure 374
10. Leak check fuel lines, ensure fuel pressure light extinguishes.
11. Torque fuel line B-nuts (4x locations) to 99-117 in-lbs (offset calculation) using (6-3 Torque wrench and crowsfoot at 180°).
12. Using isopropyl alcohol, clean surfaces where torque stripe will be applied. Apply torque stripe across b-nut and adjacent structure.
Verification Method
Pressure check fuel lines with fuel valve in ON position and both pumps running. Ensure no leaks are visible.
