ICON Aircraft Year in Review; Production Achievements, International Expansion, and Aircraft Available for Immediate Sale

2023 was another exciting and fast-paced year at ICON Aircraft. We focused on stabilizing production and our supply chain, and we completed the 200th ICON A5 earlier this fall. At the same time, our Sales and Marketing Teams attended events all over the world as we come close to achieving type certification and international distribution for the A5.

Here are some of the highlights from the past year:

Flying and more flying. Our flight training, sales demo, R&D, and delivery teams have collectively logged thousands of hours in the A5 this year. ICON is almost constantly showcasing the A5 and flying prospective owners, influencers, and sales partners at large events such as EAA AirVenture and Sun ‘N Fun, and dozens of small private events and demo days, both in the U.S. and abroad.

Deliveries. There are now more than 210 ICON A5’s in 13 countries across the globe. We are extremely proud of this significant milestone and look forward to continued growth in the months and years ahead. Regardless of where owners live in the world, they all share a passion for the A5. In fact, three of our international owners love the A5 so much they’re starting their own dealerships.

Owner Satisfaction. One of the biggest compliments we can get is when an existing owner decides to upgrade and purchase the newest model of the ICON A5. Throughout this year, many of our original “ICON 100” owners have placed orders and taken delivery of the newest A5, equipped with the Garmin G3X Touch, autopilot, and Signature livery design. People who fly in the A5 love it, and people who own an A5 can’t get enough of the ICON lifestyle.

Passionate Community. The ICON Owner Community has truly taken off in 2023. Our owner community is incredibly connected and the ICON Owners & Pilots Association (IOPA) continues to grow both online and in the real world. IOPA has been critical for communicating with owners and coordinating meetups and fly-ins across the country this year and we are very grateful for the high levels of engagement on the forums and threads.

Flight Training. As we produce more airplanes, there is also an increased demand for ICON Flight Training. Training and proficiency in the low altitude environment is an integral part of the A5 ownership experience, and in 2023 we’ve continued to invest resources into expanding the ICON Flight Training Network. The two most recent additions are Channel Islands Aviation in Camarillo, CA, and ICONIC Adventures in Gatlinburg, TN. There are now more than 65 ICON Authorized Flight Instructors (IAFI) in the U.S., and we continue to expand both here and overseas. Over 16 ICON Authorized Flight Instructors were trained in 2023, alone.

Type Certification. We are very close to completing the Type Certification process with the FAA. Once the process is complete, pilots around the world will be able to import and register the ICON A5 Certified Edition in their home countries. For U.S. customers, the option of a Type Certified A5 simplifies the requirements for flying to the Caribbean or operating the A5 from a yacht in foreign waters.

International Expansion. Over the past year, we have developed sales partners in South Korea, Japan, the Dominican Republic, Montenegro, and beyond. ICON now has distribution partnerships in 13 countries and growing. One of the highlights this year was debuting the A5 at the Seoul International Aerospace and Defense Exhibition (ADEX) in South Korea. ADEX is the largest and most comprehensive aviation trade show in Northeast Asia. That region is perfect for the A5 and ICON is leading the charge in expanding general aviation throughout that burgeoning flying community. Product Development. In 2023, ICON continued to develop new enhancements for the A5. We introduced the 4-blade lightweight propeller at EAA AirVenture earlier this summer, which is available as an upgrade on a new A5 and can also be retrofitted on previous model years. In addition to weighing approximately eight pounds less than the stock A5 propeller, the new 4-blade improves takeoff distance by 10-12 percent, increasing the versatility and safety of the aircraft. Stay tuned for more exciting news in 2024.

Aircraft Availability. For the first time, ICON Sales will have several unallocated A5’s available for closing in the next 30 – 60 days. Manufacturing has worked tirelessly to stabilize production and this, along with a small delay in our Type Certification, means that there are production slots available for LSA’s that were previously allocated for Type Certified aircraft. Investor Support. Our investors remain committed to ICON’s vision, and they believe as strongly as we do in adventure flying and personal air mobility. We are also considering new investment to accelerate several exciting product development projects and global expansion. If you are interested in learning more, please email fly@iconaircraft.com. Bottom line: ICON continues to steadily scale production, enhance and evolve the ICON A5, and support our passionate and growing owner community.
