ICON A5

Discover Adventure flying

The A5 reinvents recreational aviation and lets you bring the exhilaration of flight to life like never before. Sport flying with the A5 is tailored to pilots who primarily fly for recreation — easy to fly, lightweight, and low operating costs.

New for Summer 2021, the A5 is now available in two models — Limited Edition (S-LSA) and Certified Edition (Type Certified). To learn more about the model differences follow the link below.

Flying made easy.

AoA

Angle of Attack (AoA)

Small gauge. Big difference. This instrument is unique to the A5. It simplifies flying, telling you everything you need to know during flight. Located at the top of the instrument cluster and within easy line of sight for the pilot, the Angle of Attack gauge provides an instantaneous read of how close the wing is to stalling. This informs the pilot how much more it’s possible to ask of the airplane, regardless of the atmospheric conditions, the maneuver, or how the plane is loaded and configured.
Windows

Removable Side Windows

Enjoy flying with the windows out. The A5 provides an immersive flying experience unlike anything you’ve ever felt before. The side windows can be removed easily with one hand and stowed in the baggage area.
Canopy

See the world in 3-D

With the engine in the back and a low instrument panel, the A5’s panoramic canopy allows you see the world in a new dimension.
Intuitive Controls

Flight Control Stick

Inspired by military aircraft, the A5 uses a center stick to control the ailerons and elevator. This intuitive interface provides direct feedback to the pilot, in keeping with the A5’s sport flying mission.
Avionics

Integrated GPS

The A5 is available with the removable Garmin Aera 796 GPS or the Garmin G3X Touch™ flight display (not pictured). These touch screen displays have customizable display modes, 3D terrain views, moving maps with sectional markings, secondary instrument clusters, and flight planning systems. ADS-B Out comes standard and ADS-B In is also available as an option.

Art meets aviation.

A stunning product of function.

Engine

Rotax 912iS Sport

Among the most widely used light aircraft engines, the Rotax 912 is reliable, lightweight, and efficient. The A5 uses the electronically fuel injected version, the 912 iS Sport, which delivers even better efficiency and extremely simple operation in all conditions. It accepts either 100LL and 91 octane auto gasoline.
Lighting

Advanced Running Lights

The A5 uses LEDs for all exterior lighting. In addition to consuming less energy and generating less heat, they are lightweight, exceptionally bright and allow very sharply defined beams. Custom LED landing and taxi light assemblies are a defining part of the A5’s design.
Folding Wings

Folding Wings

Easy as 1, 2, 3. It takes one person just two minutes to unfold the A5’s wings and be ready for the open skies. Elegantly simple.
Seawings

Seawings™ Platforms

These platforms provide stability on the water as well as convenient platforms to check engine vitals and enter the aircraft on land, from a dock, or from the water. The tips are removable in a matter of minutes, so they can be replaced if damaged.

Safety Innovation

Peace of mind at 1,000 feet.

Spin-Resistant Airframe (SRA)

Always under control. After thousands of hours of testing and development, the A5 is the world’s first spin-resistant Light Sport Aircraft.

ICON Parachute System (IPS)

Safe and Sound. IPS technology has more than 300 documented lives saved, some at altitudes as low as a few hundred feet. So if you encounter the unexpected, we’ve got you covered. Literally.

Angle of Attack (AoA)

Small gauge. Big difference. This single gauge tells you everything you need to know. Any speed. Any load. Any maneuver.
